Antioch

Where believers were first called Christians

Antioch was a great city where the gospel spread powerfully among non-Jews, and where the disciples were first called Christians. It became the sending base for Paul's missionary journeys.

Antioch represents the church reaching outward — a diverse, generous community from which the good news went to the wider world.

Antioch in Scripture

And when he had found him, he brought him unto Antioch. And it came to pass, that a whole year they assembled themselves with the church, and taught much people. And the disciples were called Christians first in Antioch.
