The Number Ten

Completeness of order and responsibility

Ten is a number of completeness and order, most famously in the Ten Commandments — the summary of God's moral law. It appears in the ten plagues, the tithe (a tenth), and many parables.

Ten speaks of a full measure of responsibility before God — enough to reveal our need, and to point us to the grace that fulfils what we cannot.

The Number Ten in Scripture

And he was there with the LORD forty days and forty nights; he did neither eat bread, nor drink water. And he wrote upon the tables the words of the covenant, the ten commandments.
