The Morning Psalm
Boy's name

Jeremiah

The LORD will exalt; appointed by God

Origin HebrewSay jair-uh-MY-uh

Jeremiah was told at his calling that God knew him before he was formed in the womb — before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee. Young and reluctant, he became the weeping prophet, speaking hard truth to a nation heading for exile, and suffering for it.

Yet his book holds some of Scripture's tenderest promises: I know the thoughts that I think toward you... thoughts of peace, and not of evil, and the new covenant written on the heart. His name means the LORD will exalt.

Jeremiah is a strong, warm classic — long popular and easily shortened to Jem or Jerry.
