Solomon's name comes from shalom, peace, and his reign was Israel's golden age of it. Given the chance to ask God for anything, the young king asked not for riches or long life but for an understanding heart — and God gave him wisdom so great that all the earth sought his presence, plus the wealth he had not requested.
He built the temple in Jerusalem and wrote much of Proverbs, Ecclesiastes, and the Song of Solomon. His later compromises are a sober warning, but his prayer for wisdom remains a model for every leader.
Solomon is dignified and increasingly popular — wise, peaceful, and warmly shortened to Sol.

Solomon in the Bible
Give therefore thy servant an understanding heart to judge thy people, that I may discern between good and bad: for who is able to judge this thy so great a people?
