Anger is a strong current, and a man's anger can do real damage before he's even decided to speak. Scripture doesn't tell you to feel nothing; it tells you to rule what you feel.
It doesn't produce what you want
For the wrath of man worketh not the righteousness of God.
Anger promises to set things right and rarely does. Whatever good you're after, human wrath is not the tool that builds it.
Lower the temperature
A soft answer turneth away wrath: but grievous words stir up anger.
You usually control one variable in a heated moment: your reply. A soft answer can cool a whole room; a sharp one pours petrol.
The real strength
He that is slow to anger is better than the mighty; and he that ruleth his spirit than he that taketh a city.
The Bible's picture of a strong man is not the one who wins the argument but the one who rules his own spirit. That is the harder conquest, and the greater one.
When you feel it rising, buy a few seconds — breathe, step out, pray a word. The gap is where a man becomes better than the mighty.
