Beginning the Day With God
A 7-day plan for starting your mornings in the Word — a gentle rhythm of meeting God before the day begins.
Part of Prayer
Day 1 / 7
My voice shalt thou hear in the morning, O LORD; in the morning will I direct my prayer unto thee, and will look up.
Psalm 5:3, KJV Before the emails and the to-do list, look up. Aiming your first thought at God reorders everything that follows.
Day 2 / 7
It is of the LORD's mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.
Lamentations 3:22–23, KJV Whatever yesterday held, His mercy has been restocked overnight. You wake to a fresh supply, new this very morning.
Day 3 / 7
Cause me to hear thy lovingkindness in the morning; for in thee do I trust: cause me to know the way wherein I should walk; for I lift up my soul unto thee.
Psalm 143:8, KJV Let the first thing you hear be that God loves you. Start secure in His lovingkindness, and the day's demands lose their power to define you.
Day 4 / 7
O satisfy us early with thy mercy; that we may rejoice and be glad all our days.
Psalm 90:14, KJV Ask to be filled early — satisfied with God's mercy before the day tries to fill you with everything else. A few minutes with Him colours all the hours after.
Day 5 / 7
And in the morning, rising up a great while before day, he went out, and departed into a solitary place, and there prayed.
Mark 1:35, KJV If the Son of God made time to meet the Father in the morning, the pattern is worth ours. It needn't be long — just genuine and set apart.
Day 6 / 7
To shew forth thy lovingkindness in the morning, and thy faithfulness every night.
Psalm 92:2, KJV A fitting rhythm for the whole day: His lovingkindness greets you in the morning, His faithfulness carries you through the night.
Day 7 / 7
This is the day which the LORD hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it.
Psalm 118:24, KJV However ordinary or daunting, today is a day the LORD made — a gift to receive with gladness. Begin it with Him, and carry His steadiness into the hours ahead.
