Comfort in Grief

A 10-day companion for loss and grief — Scripture and gentle words for a heart that is hurting, with no rush and no platitudes.

Part of Comfort & Grief

  1. Day 1 / 10

The LORD is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart; and saveth such as be of a contrite spirit.
    Psalm 34:18, KJV

God does not keep His distance from a broken heart. He draws near — nearest, in fact, when the heart is shattered.

  2. Day 2 / 10

Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted.
    Matthew 5:4, KJV

Jesus doesn't rush your mourning or shame it. He calls the mourning blessed, because comfort is promised — real comfort, in His time.

  3. Day 3 / 10

He healeth the broken in heart, and bindeth up their wounds.
    Psalm 147:3, KJV

This is God's actual work — healing the broken in heart, binding up wounds like a gentle physician. Your grief is not too much for Him.

  4. Day 4 / 10

And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes
    Revelation 21:4, KJV

There is a day coming when God Himself will wipe away every tear, and death and sorrow will be no more. For those in Christ, the separation is real but not forever.

  5. Day 5 / 10

Who comforteth us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort them which are in any trouble, by the comfort wherewith we ourselves are comforted of God.
    2 Corinthians 1:4, KJV

God is the God of all comfort, and He meets us in all our tribulation — not just the tidy griefs, but this one.

  6. Day 6 / 10

Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.
    Psalm 23:4, KJV

Even in the valley of the shadow, the comfort isn't the absence of the valley — it's the presence of the Shepherd walking through it with you.

  7. Day 7 / 10

Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me.
    John 14:1, KJV

Grief troubles the heart deeply. Jesus gently invites you to keep trusting Him in it, even when you cannot see the way ahead.

  8. Day 8 / 10

Weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning.
    Psalm 30:5, KJV

The night of weeping is real, and it can feel endless. But Scripture frames it as a night — with a morning on the way.

  9. Day 9 / 10

Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee
    Isaiah 41:10, KJV

Grief can feel frightening and lonely. Hear God's promise: I am with thee, I will strengthen thee, I will help thee.

  10. Day 10 / 10

He it is that doth go before thee; he will be with thee, he will not fail thee, neither forsake thee: fear not, neither be dismayed.
    Deuteronomy 31:8, KJV

God goes before you into a future that looks different now, and He will not fail or forsake you in it. You do not walk on alone.
