The Morning Psalm
Greek word

Logos

Word; reason; the divine self-expression

Say LOH-goss

Logos means word, but also reason, logic, and the principle that orders reality — a term loaded with meaning in both Greek philosophy and Hebrew thought, where the word of the LORD created the heavens. John gathers all of it into one staggering claim: in the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God — and then, the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us.

By naming Christ the Logos, John declares that Jesus is God's ultimate self-expression — the one through whom God made the world and now makes himself known. Everything God wished to say to humanity, he said in a Person. To meet Jesus is to hear the Word by which the universe was spoken into being, now speaking with a human voice.

Logos in Scripture

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
