Torah is usually translated law, but its deeper meaning is instruction or teaching — the guidance of a loving parent as much as the rule of a judge. The Torah is the first five books of the Bible and, more broadly, God's revealed instruction for how to live. To the faithful Israelite it was not a burden but a delight, a lamp for the path.
This is why Psalm 1 says the blessed person's delight is in the torah of the LORD, meditating on it day and night. The law was never meant to earn God's love but to show a redeemed people how to flourish. Jesus did not abolish the Torah but fulfilled it, and its heart — love God, love neighbour — remains the shape of the good life.
Torah in Scripture
But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night.
