Ruth was a young Moabite widow who refused to leave her grieving mother-in-law Naomi, giving one of the most beautiful pledges of loyalty ever spoken: whither thou goest, I will go... thy people shall be my people, and thy God my God. She left her homeland to glean in the fields of Bethlehem.
There she met Boaz, her kinsman-redeemer, and became the great-grandmother of King David — and an ancestor of Jesus. A foreigner welcomed into the covenant by faith and kindness, she has a whole book of the Bible bearing her name.
Ruth is a short, strong, timeless classic — gentle, loyal, and quietly beautiful.
