Silas was a leader in the Jerusalem church chosen to travel with Paul on his missionary journeys. His most famous moment came in Philippi: beaten and thrown into the inner prison, feet fast in the stocks, he and Paul at midnight prayed, and sang praises unto God — and an earthquake opened the doors and the jailer's heart.
A Roman citizen like Paul, faithful in hardship, Silas (also called Silvanus) helped carry the gospel into Europe and is named as a co-sender of several New Testament letters.
Silas has surged in popularity for its gentle-yet-strong sound and its story of joy in suffering.
