10 Bible Verses About Peace (The Kind That Holds)

27 June 2026 · 3 min read · Verse Collections

Peace, as the world sells it, is circumstantial: the bills paid, the scan clear, the house quiet. Real enough — and always one phone call from ending. The peace Scripture talks about is a different substance: given rather than rented, guarding rather than fragile, present in trouble rather than after it. Here are ten verses about that kind.

1. The gift, distinguished from the rental

Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid. — John 14:27 (KJV)

Spoken on the night of betrayal, with every earthly condition for peace collapsing — which is the proof it doesn't run on conditions.

2. The guard at the door

Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
Philippians 4:6–7, KJV

Peace that passes understanding means peace arriving where, by every calculation, there shouldn't be any. It keeps — garrisons — the heart and mind. A sentry, not a mood.

3. The stayed mind

Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee.
Isaiah 26:3, KJV

Stayed means leaned, like a ladder. You can't empty an anxious mind by effort — but you can lean it on something, repeatedly, and the keeping is His job.

4. Peace as referee

And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to the which also ye are called in one body; and be ye thankful.
Colossians 3:15, KJV

Rule here is an umpire's word — let peace call the plays. In a decision between two paths, the one that murders your peace is usually answering the question for you.

5. The blessing of both

The LORD will give strength unto his people; the LORD will bless his people with peace.
Psalm 29:11, KJV

Strength and peace in one verse — power without agitation. The psalm before this line is all thunderstorm; the blessing lands after the storm has done its worst.

6. Peace with God — the foundation

Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.
Romans 5:1, KJV

The deepest layer: not peaceful feelings but a settled treaty. Every other peace in this list is built on this one being signed.

7. Sleep as an act of trust

I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep: for thou, LORD, only makest me dwell in safety.
Psalm 4:8, KJV

Written by a man sleeping rough among real dangers. Safety, for David, was a Person — and sleep was his nightly vote of confidence.

8. The overcomer's cheer

These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.
John 16:33, KJV

Peace located in me — not in the world improving. Both halves are promises; the second outranks the first.

9. The peacemaker's family likeness

Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God.
Matthew 5:9, KJV

Peace received becomes peace made — in kitchens, inboxes, and church halls. Making it, Jesus says, is the family resemblance.

10. The oldest blessing

The LORD bless thee, and keep thee: The LORD make his face shine upon thee, and be gracious unto thee: The LORD lift up his countenance upon thee, and give thee peace.
Numbers 6:24–26, KJV

Three thousand years of God's people have been sent home under these words — and they end, deliberately, on peace. Say them over someone you love this week.

Peace, checked daily

Peace leaks — it needs topping up at the source, which is what a morning verse is for. Pick the one that met you, keep it by the kettle, and check in daily. We'll have one ready for you each morning either way.
