Few things are harder than watching your child suffer through illness. In those anxious hours, God's Word brings real comfort — both to pray over your child and to steady your own heart. Here are Bible verses for a sick child.
The God who heals
Bring your child before the God who heals the hurting: 'He healeth the broken in heart, and bindeth up their wounds.' Whatever your child faces, God is near to the sick and the suffering, tender toward the ones we love most.
He healeth the broken in heart, and bindeth up their wounds.
A promise for fear
When fear grips a worried parent, hold on to this: 'Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee.' You don't face this alone; God is with you and your child.
Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.
Jesus welcomes the children
Remember how tenderly Jesus regards children: 'Suffer little children, and forbid them not, to come unto me: for of such is the kingdom of heaven.' Your child is precious to him, and you can bring them to him in prayer.
But Jesus said, Suffer little children, and forbid them not, to come unto me: for of such is the kingdom of heaven.
Casting your worry on Him
A sick child fills a parent's heart with worry. Hand it to God: 'Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.' He cares about your child even more than you do, and invites you to entrust them to him.
Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.
When your child is sick, let these verses comfort you: God heals the hurting, he is with you in your fear, he welcomes and treasures children, and he invites you to cast your worry on him. Pray these words over your child, and let them steady your own anxious heart. Whatever the outcome, your child is held in the loving hands of a God who cares for them even more than you do.
