Bible Verses for an Expecting Mother (Comfort and Hope Before Baby Arrives)

10 December 2025 · 1 min read · Verse Collections

Pregnancy is a season of wonder and joy — and, often, of anxiety about the baby's health, the birth, and the unknown ahead. Scripture speaks tenderly to an expecting mother, reminding her that the little life she carries is known and loved by God even now.

Your baby is knit by God

For thou hast possessed my reins: thou hast covered me in my mother's womb.
Psalm 139:13, KJV

Your baby isn't developing by chance — God Himself is at work, forming this child in the womb. Every detail is under His careful, loving hand. That truth can steady an anxious heart in the waiting.

A gift and a reward

Lo, children are an heritage of the LORD: and the fruit of the womb is his reward.
Psalm 127:3, KJV

The child you carry is a heritage and a reward from God — a precious gift entrusted to you on purpose. Whatever fears the pregnancy brings, you can rest in knowing this baby is a blessing from Him.

He will gently lead you

he shall gather the lambs with his arm, and carry them in his bosom, and shall gently lead those that are with young.
Isaiah 40:11, KJV

God pays special, gentle attention to mothers in this tender season — He 'gently leads those that are with young.' You don't have to carry the worry alone; He carries you as you carry your baby.

As you wait to meet your little one, hold onto these truths: your baby is known and formed by God, a gift from His hand, and He is gently leading you through it all. Rest in His care for you both.
