Bible Verses for Healing and Recovery (Comfort for Body and Soul)
1 October 2025 · 2 min read · Verse Collections · Comfort & Grief
Whether you're recovering from illness, surgery, injury, or deep emotional hurt, the healing process can be long, uncertain, and discouraging. Scripture offers comfort and strength for body and soul, and points to God as a healer who cares. Here are verses to hold onto.
God heals
For I will restore health unto thee, and I will heal thee of thy wounds, saith the LORD
Healing is part of God's heart toward His people. He speaks of restoring health and healing wounds. Whatever your need — physical or emotional — you can bring it to a God who cares about your healing and is able to bring it about in His way and time.
He is near the hurting
He healeth the broken in heart, and bindeth up their wounds.
God draws especially near to those who are hurting, tending wounds like a gentle physician — including the wounds no one else can see. In your recovery, you're not alone; He is close, binding up what's broken.
Strength for the weak
He giveth power to the faint; and to them that have no might he increaseth strength.
Recovery often leaves you weak and depleted. God's strength is aimed precisely at the faint — He gives power to those who have none. Lean on Him for the strength to get through each day of healing.
Peace in the process
Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee.
The uncertainty of recovery can breed anxiety. But God offers peace to the mind stayed on Him. Fixing your thoughts on God rather than your fears brings a peace that steadies you through the ups and downs of healing.
In seasons of healing and recovery, hold onto these truths: God is a healer, He's near to the hurting, He strengthens the weak, and He gives peace to those who trust Him. Bring your body and soul to Him, lean on His strength, and rest in His care. Healing often takes time, but you don't walk through it alone.
