Bible Verses for Mothers (Encouragement for the Journey)

17 July 2025 · 2 min read · Verse Collections

Motherhood is one of the most beautiful and demanding callings there is — full of joy, and no small amount of exhaustion and self-doubt. God's Word offers real encouragement for the journey. Here are Bible verses for mothers.

Children are a gift

In the tiring blur of raising children, it helps to remember they're a blessing: 'Lo, children are an heritage of the LORD: and the fruit of the womb is his reward.' Your children are a gift entrusted to you by God — a precious reward, even on the hard days.

Lo, children are an heritage of the LORD: and the fruit of the womb is his reward.
Psalm 127:3, KJV

Your worth isn't in perfection

For every mother who feels she falls short, this verse reframes what matters: 'Favour is deceitful, and beauty is vain: but a woman that feareth the LORD, she shall be praised.' Your worth isn't in doing everything perfectly, but in a heart that loves God.

Favour is deceitful, and beauty is vain: but a woman that feareth the LORD, she shall be praised.
Proverbs 31:30, KJV

Strength when you're weary

Motherhood can drain you dry, so cling to this promise: 'they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength.' When you've nothing left, God's strength meets you exactly there. You don't parent in your own strength alone.

But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.
Isaiah 40:31, KJV

The long promise of faithful parenting

When you wonder if your daily faithfulness matters, hold on to this: 'Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.' The seeds you sow, day by day, are never wasted.

Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.
Proverbs 22:6, KJV

For mothers, the Bible offers encouragement: your children are a gift from the Lord, your worth rests in loving God rather than in perfection, his strength renews you when you're weary, and your faithful, daily parenting is never wasted. Whatever season of motherhood you're in, take these words to heart. You are doing a holy, God-given work — and the God who called you to it will strengthen and sustain you through it.
