Bible Verses for Mothers of Teenagers (Faith for the Turbulent Years)
4 August 2025 · 2 min read · Verse Collections · Comfort & Grief
The teenage years bring their own unique challenges for a mother — the pulling away, the worries about their choices and faith, the heartache of watching them struggle, and the fear of what lies ahead. Scripture offers real comfort and strength for this turbulent season. Here are verses to hold onto.
Keep entrusting them to God
Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.
The foundation you've laid isn't lost, even when a teen seems to be drifting. This verse takes the long view — the training of the early years can hold and resurface as they grow. Keep trusting the seeds you've planted.
God will teach them Himself
And all thy children shall be taught of the LORD; and great shall be the peace of thy children.
You can't control everything your teenager thinks or does — but God promises to teach your children Himself, reaching them in ways you can't. Pray this promise over them, and trust Him to work in their hearts directly.
Don't grow weary
And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.
Parenting teens can be exhausting and discouraging, with results often invisible. But don't grow weary — 'in due season we shall reap.' The harvest of your faithful love and prayer may come later, but it comes. Keep going.
Keep praying
Above all, keep praying for your teenager — for their heart, their faith, their choices, and their future. Your prayers reach where your influence can't and continue their work long after these years pass. Many a wandering teen has been brought back through a praying mother.
Mothering a teenager is not for the faint of heart, but you're not doing it alone. Keep trusting the foundation you've laid, lean on God to teach and reach them, refuse to grow weary, and keep praying. These turbulent years are held in the hands of a God who loves your teen even more than you do.
