Coping With Change and Uncertainty
20 May 2025 · 1 min read · Understanding the Bible
Change is constant, and uncertainty unsettles us all — a new season, a lost job, a health scare, a world that never seems to stand still. In the midst of it, God offers stability. Here's how to cope with change and uncertainty.
God never changes
When everything around us shifts, God remains constant: 'Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever.' In a changing world, he is the one fixed point. His character, his love, and his promises don't waver with our circumstances.
Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever.
An unchanging anchor
God's unchanging nature is our anchor: 'For I am the LORD, I change not.' We can build our lives on him precisely because he doesn't shift. When change threatens to sweep us off our feet, we can hold fast to a God who is utterly steady.
For I am the LORD, I change not; therefore ye sons of Jacob are not consumed.
He is with you through it
God doesn't just remain steady from afar; he's with us in the change. 'Fear thou not; for I am with thee.' Whatever new or uncertain thing you're facing, you don't face it alone. His presence goes with you into every unknown.
Coping with change and uncertainty means anchoring yourself in an unchanging God — the same yesterday, today, and forever — who is with you through every shift. When the ground beneath you feels unstable, hold fast to the One who never changes. Circumstances may keep changing, but God does not, and his steady, present love is the stability your heart is looking for.
