God's Promises for Difficult Times (Truths to Stand On)

14 August 2025 · 2 min read · Verse Collections · Comfort & Grief

When life gets difficult and everything feels uncertain, God's promises are an anchor for the soul — solid truths to stand on when feelings and circumstances shift. Here's a collection of His promises to hold onto in hard times.

He is with you

When thou passest through the waters, I will be with thee
Isaiah 43:2, KJV

God promises His presence through the hardest waters — not always around them, but through them, and never alone. Whatever you're facing, you don't face it by yourself. He is with you in it.

He gives strength

I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee
Isaiah 41:10, KJV

God promises to strengthen and help you. When your own resources run out, His don't. In difficult times, you can lean on His promised strength rather than trying to summon your own.

He works things for good

And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God
Romans 8:28, KJV

God promises to work all things — even the hard and painful — together for good for those who love Him. Nothing in your difficult season is wasted or outside His power to redeem. You may not see it now, but you can trust it.

He gives peace

Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you
John 14:27, KJV

God promises a peace unlike the world's — one that doesn't depend on circumstances. In the middle of difficulty, His peace can guard your heart and steady you when everything around you is shaking.

He never leaves

I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.
Hebrews 13:5, KJV

Whatever happens, God promises never to leave or forsake you. There is no difficult season dark enough for Him to abandon you. His faithful presence is guaranteed, no matter what.

In difficult times, God's promises are your anchor: He is with you, He strengthens you, He works things for good, He gives peace, and He never leaves. These aren't wishful thoughts but guarantees from a God who cannot lie and does not fail. Hold onto them when everything feels uncertain — they'll steady you until the storm passes.
