The Power of God: Nothing Is Too Hard for Him

16 October 2025 · 2 min read · Understanding the Bible

God is described in Scripture as 'almighty' — infinite in power, able to do anything consistent with his character. His power is a source of great confidence for those who trust him. Here's what the Bible reveals about the power of God.

Nothing is too hard

There are no limits to God's power. 'Behold, I am the LORD, the God of all flesh: is there any thing too hard for me?' The One who spoke the universe into being holds all power. No problem we face is too big for him, no situation beyond his ability to change.

With God, all things are possible

Where human ability runs out, God's power begins. Jesus said, 'With men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible.' What looks hopeless to us is not hopeless to God. His power specialises in the impossible.

But Jesus beheld them, and said unto them, With men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible.
Matthew 19:26, KJV

Power at work in us

God's power isn't only 'out there'; it works within his people. The Bible speaks of God being 'able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us.' The same power that raised Jesus from the dead is at work in believers.

Strength in our weakness

Wonderfully, God's power is often most evident in our weakness. 'My strength is made perfect in weakness,' God told Paul. We don't have to be strong for God to work powerfully; in fact, our weakness is often the very place his power shines.

The power of God is limitless — nothing is too hard for him, and with him all things are possible. That power is not distant but at work in his people, and it shines most brightly in our weakness. Whatever impossible situation you face, remember who God is: the Almighty, for whom nothing is too hard. His power is a firm foundation for faith.
