Come ye apart

By Niall Florence · 24 July 2026 · 1 min read

And he said unto them, Come ye yourselves apart into a desert place, and rest a while: for there were many coming and going, and they had no leisure so much as to eat.
Mark 6:31, KJV

The disciples had just returned from ministry so busy they had no leisure so much as to eat. Jesus does not hand them a better schedule. He says: come ye yourselves apart into a desert place, and rest a while.

Rest, in his economy, is not the collapse at the end of usefulness. It is an invitation with his own company attached — come apart with me. The desert place has Jesus in it.

Your version may be ten quiet minutes this morning. Take them deliberately. He is not merely permitting the rest; he is hosting it.
