He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love.

John does not say God is occasionally loving, or loving toward the deserving. He says God is love. It is not one of his moods; it is his nature.
This is the bedrock under every other promise. Providence, discipline, delay, mystery — all of it passes through a nature that is love. He cannot act out of character, and his character is this.
Read your day through that lens. Whatever else today holds, it is governed by One whose very being is love — including his being toward you.
