Morning by morning

10 July 2026 · 1 min read

The Lord GOD hath given me the tongue of the learned, that I should know how to speak a word in season to him that is weary: he wakeneth morning by morning, he wakeneth mine ear to hear as the learned.
Isaiah 50:4, KJV

Isaiah describes a remarkable rhythm: morning by morning, God wakens his servant's ear to hear. Not a year of instruction downloaded at once — a daily waking, a daily listening.

Most of us want the whole plan up front. God, in his kindness, gives something better: himself, every morning, with enough light for the day in hand. The listening ear is renewed on the same schedule as the sunrise.

So begin here, quietly. Before the day speaks, let him speak. He has been wakening ears morning by morning for a very long time, and this morning he is wakening yours.
