Fulness of joy

Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in thy presence is fulness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore.
We mostly treat joy as a forecast: it will arrive when the situation improves, the season turns, the thing we are waiting for finally lands. David gives joy a different address entirely. In thy presence is fulness of joy. Not near His presence, not after His presence has fixed things — in it.
That relocates the search. Presence is available this morning, at a kitchen table, in five unremarkable minutes — which means fulness of joy is not on the far side of your circumstances. The circumstances may take years. The Address is open now.
And the verse begins with a path: thou wilt shew me the path of life. A path is revealed step by step, at walking pace — no map handed over in advance. But the direction of travel is fixed and the destination is guaranteed: His right hand, pleasures for evermore. Today is one more stretch of that path. Walk it close to the Joy.
