Still waters

13 July 2026 · 1 min read

He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.
Psalm 23:2, KJV

Sheep do not drink well from rushing water. So a good shepherd finds the still pools, the quiet edges, and leads the flock there. He maketh me to lie down — sometimes rest has to be shepherded into us.

Notice who does the leading. You are not asked to find the green pastures yourself, only to follow closely enough to arrive. The Shepherd knows where the stillness is, even in a loud season.

If your soul feels like rushing water this morning, let him lead. Stillness is not laziness; it is where he restores.
