Paul — shipwrecked, beaten, hunted — calls his troubles our light affliction, which is but for a moment. He can say it only because of what sits on the other scale: a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory.
He is not minimising pain; he is measuring it against something. Affliction is real but temporary. Glory is real and eternal. Weighed honestly, the future outweighs the present by more than words hold.
Today's heaviness is working — his word — something for you. Nothing suffered in Christ is dead weight; it is all being converted.
