The Morning Psalm
Encouragement

Near to the broken

The LORD is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart; and saveth such as be of a contrite spirit.
Psalm 34:18, KJV

Heartbreak lies about geography. It tells you that you have drifted somewhere remote — that everyone else is in the warm house of ordinary life and you are outside it, and God is wherever the unbroken people are. This verse flatly contradicts that map.

The LORD is nigh — near — to the broken-hearted. Not near to the recovered, the composed, the ones who have processed it properly. Near to the broken, while broken. If your heart is in pieces this morning, you are not far from God. You are, by His own word, in the place He draws closest to.

Nothing here rushes you. The verse does not schedule your healing or grade your faith. It only tells you who is sitting with you in the wreckage — and that He saves, in His time, such as be of a contrite spirit. You can be in pieces and be held. Today, that is enough.
