Joanna was the wife of Chuza, Herod's steward — a woman of some standing who, healed by Jesus, followed him and ministered unto him of her substance, helping to support his ministry from her own means. She is named among the women who traveled with Jesus.
Faithful to the end, she was among the women who came to the tomb on Easter morning and found it empty, and who first carried the news of the resurrection to the apostles. Her name is a feminine form of John — the LORD is gracious.
Joanna is a graceful, melodic classic — warm and timeless.
