Nathanael (often identified with Bartholomew) was the disciple of whom Jesus said, Behold an Israelite indeed, in whom is no guile. Amazed that Jesus knew him already, he confessed him as the Son of God.
A longer, elegant form of Nathan, Nathanael means gift of God and speaks of sincerity.
