The Morning Psalm
Boy's name

Philip

Lover of horses

Origin GreekSay FIL-ip

Philip was among the first disciples Jesus called, and like Andrew he immediately brought someone else — finding Nathanael with the invitation, come and see. It was Philip whom Jesus tested before feeding the five thousand, and Philip who asked at the last supper, shew us the Father.

A later Philip, one of the seven deacons, became a bold evangelist — preaching in Samaria and explaining Isaiah to an Ethiopian official on a desert road, who believed and was baptized on the spot. Both Philips are men who share the good news readily.

Philip is a gentle, dignified classic — royal, timeless, and warmly shortened to Phil.
