And he hath on his vesture and on his thigh a name written, KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS.
“King of Kings, and Lord of Lords” is the name written on Christ as he rides in triumph in Revelation. It declares him supreme over every ruler, authority, and power that has ever existed.
Every earthly king answers to this King. However great the powers of this world seem, they are all beneath the one who is King over all kings — his throne outranks them all.
This title is both awesome and comforting. Awesome, because it calls for our worship and allegiance; comforting, because it means no tyrant, no circumstance, no power has the final say over those who belong to him.
One day every knee will bow to the King of Kings. Until then, we live as citizens of his kingdom, serving a ruler whose reign is perfectly just and will never end.
