Bible Verses About Encouragement

Scripture to lift the head and steady the heart — verses of courage for when you need to keep going.

Everyone runs low on courage sometimes. The Bible is full of encouragement for exactly those moments — not empty cheer, but the solid comfort of a God who is with us and for us.

Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the LORD thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest.
Joshua 1:9, KJV
Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.
Isaiah 41:10, KJV
Be strong and of a good courage, fear not, nor be afraid of them: for the LORD thy God, he it is that doth go with thee; he will not fail thee, nor forsake thee.
Deuteronomy 31:6, KJV
Wait on the LORD: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the LORD.
Psalm 27:14, KJV
Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord.
1 Corinthians 15:58, KJV

Your faithful work is never wasted.

And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.
Galatians 6:9, KJV

Take heart. The God who calls you to be strong and courageous also promises to go with you — which is the only reason courage is ever possible.
