Bible Verses About Trials and Testing
Scripture on the testing of faith — counting it joy, coming forth as gold.
The Bible calls trials a testing that refines rather than destroys — producing patience, proving faith, and turning out gold. It even dares to call them a cause for joy. These verses reframe the hard season without denying it.
My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations; Knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience.
Count it all joy... the trying of your faith worketh patience.
Wherein ye greatly rejoice, though now for a season, if need be, ye are in heaviness through manifold temptations: That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ:
The trial of your faith... more precious than of gold.
There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.
God... will with the temptation also make a way to escape.
And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.
All things work together for good to them that love God.
Blessed is the man that endureth temptation: for when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord hath promised to them that love him.
Blessed is the man that endureth temptation... the crown of life.
But he knoweth the way that I take: when he hath tried me, I shall come forth as gold.
He knoweth the way that I take: when he hath tried me, I shall come forth as gold.
For thou, O God, hast proved us: thou hast tried us, as silver is tried.
Thou, O God, hast proved us... as silver is tried.
We are troubled on every side, yet not distressed; we are perplexed, but not in despair; Persecuted, but not forsaken; cast down, but not destroyed;
Troubled on every side, yet not distressed... cast down, but not destroyed.
A trial is not a sign God has left; it is often the very furnace where faith is proved and refined. He will not test you beyond escape, and nothing in the fire is wasted. Come forth as gold.
