Bible Verses About Protection

Scripture on God as refuge and shield — verses for safety, and for placing those you love in his keeping.

The Bible is full of the language of shelter: God as refuge, fortress, shield, and strong tower. These verses are for the fearful and the endangered, and for everyone praying over the people they love.

He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the LORD, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust.
Psalm 91:1–2, KJV

The most beloved chapter in Scripture on God's protection.

The name of the LORD is a strong tower: the righteous runneth into it, and is safe.
Proverbs 18:10, KJV
The LORD shall preserve thee from all evil: he shall preserve thy soul. The LORD shall preserve thy going out and thy coming in from this time forth, and even for evermore.
Psalm 121:7–8, KJV
God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.
Psalm 46:1, KJV
Thou art my hiding place; thou shalt preserve me from trouble; thou shalt compass me about with songs of deliverance. Selah.
Psalm 32:7, KJV
But the Lord is faithful, who shall stablish you, and keep you from evil.
2 Thessalonians 3:3, KJV
The angel of the LORD encampeth round about them that fear him, and delivereth them.
Psalm 34:7, KJV

To ask for protection is to remember who ultimately keeps us. We take sensible care, and then we rest — because the One who never sleeps is watching over those he loves.
