A Prayer for Protection
A prayer for safety and God's keeping — for yourself, your home, and those you love.
This is a prayer to place yourself and the people you love under God's care — for travel, for danger, or simply for an ordinary day held in his hands.
The prayer
Lord, you are my refuge and my strong tower. I come to you for protection today — for myself, for my home, and for those I love.
Keep us safe in body and steady in spirit. Guard our coming and our going. Be a shield around us and a peace within us.
Where there is real danger, deliver us. Where there is only fear, quiet it. Help us to rest in your keeping rather than our own vigilance.
The LORD is my keeper; I will not be afraid. Watch over us, Lord, and bring us home. Amen.
The LORD shall preserve thee from all evil: he shall preserve thy soul. The LORD shall preserve thy going out and thy coming in from this time forth, and even for evermore.
To ask for protection is to remember who ultimately keeps us. We take sensible care, and then we rest — because the One who never sleeps is watching over those he loves.
