A Prayer for a Difficult Coworker
For the colleague who tries your patience — grace, wisdom, and a kept temper.
A difficult colleague can sour every working day. This prayer is for that person and that friction — for grace to respond well, and wisdom to work alongside them.
The prayer
Father, you know exactly who I mean, and you know how they get under my skin. I bring the whole frustration to you before it leaks out sideways.
As far as it depends on me, help me live peaceably with them. Guard my tongue, keep my temper, and let me not repay rudeness with rudeness.
Show me what I cannot see — the pressures behind their behaviour, and my own part in the friction. Give me wisdom for the boundaries I need and grace for the ones I can extend.
Bless them, Lord — I say it by faith. Change what needs changing in them, and in me. And give me a peaceful heart tomorrow, whatever they bring. Amen.
