A Prayer for Guidance
A prayer for a decision or a crossroads — asking God to make the way clear.
When you are facing a decision and cannot see the way forward, this prayer asks God for wisdom and the willingness to follow where he leads.
The prayer
Father, I have a choice in front of me and I do not know the way. I am tired of turning it over on my own.
You have promised to direct the paths of those who trust you. So I bring this decision to you and ask, plainly, for your guidance.
Where I am leaning on my own understanding, gently correct me. Make the next step clear, and give me the courage to take it when it comes.
I trust you to lead me, Lord — not always to the easiest path, but always to the right one. Amen.
Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.
Guidance often comes one step at a time rather than as a map of the whole road. Ask, then watch for the next step — and trust the One who has promised to lead you.
