Fear tells convincing lies in the dark. This prayer is for the frightened heart — a way of handing the fear over, and taking hold of the One who is bigger than it.
The prayer
Father, fear has hold of me tonight, and it is louder than my faith. I bring it to you before it grows any larger.
You say, again and again, fear not, for I am with you. Let that be truer to me than the thing I dread. Steady my racing heart with your nearness.
You have not given me a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and a sound mind. Quiet the what-ifs; return me to what is actually true and actually here.
I choose to trust you with what I cannot control — which is most of it. Hold me, strengthen me, and walk with me through whatever comes. Amen.
Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.
Fear thou not; for I am with thee — the antidote to fear is never more information, but a truer sense of his presence.
