A week can be met with dread or with grace. This prayer is for Monday morning — a way to hand the coming days to God before they begin.
The prayer
Father, a new week opens in front of me — some of it planned, much of it unknown. Before it begins, I give it to you.
Your mercies are new this morning; let me start on them and not on my own tired reserves. Meet me in the ordinary Monday tasks and the ones I am already dreading.
Order my days and my priorities. Give me strength for what is required, grace for the people I will meet, and margin to notice you along the way.
Whatever this week holds — deadlines, surprises, joys, or trials — walk through all of it with me. I begin it in your company and your strength. Amen.
They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.
They are new every morning — Monday's mercies are already in place before Monday's troubles arrive. Start there.
