A Prayer for Recovery After Surgery
For the long days of healing — patience, strength, and returning wholeness.
The operation may be over, but recovery is its own slow work. This prayer is for the days of healing — for patience with a mending body and hope for full strength returning.
The prayer
Father, thank you that the surgery is behind me and I am in your care still. Now, in the slow work of recovery, I need your help.
Strengthen this body as it heals. Guard the wound, ease the pain, and knit me back to wholeness in your good time.
Give me patience with a process that will not be hurried, and grace to accept help without shame. Guard my spirits on the frustrating, tired days.
You make the bed in sickness and restore the weak; do that for me now. Thank you for skilled hands, for those caring for me, and for every small sign of returning strength. Amen.
The LORD will strengthen him upon the bed of languishing: thou wilt make all his bed in his sickness.
The LORD will strengthen him upon the bed of languishing — recovery is real work, and he is in it with you. Be patient with the mending.
