A Prayer for Deliverance
For rescue from what holds you — the God who breaks chains and makes a way.
Some things hold us we cannot break on our own. This prayer is a cry for deliverance — from sin, from fear, from whatever has us bound — to the God who rescues.
The prayer
Father, I need rescuing, and I cannot do it myself. I cry out to you, the God who hears and delivers.
You know what has hold of me — the habit, the fear, the situation I cannot escape. I bring it into the open and ask you, plainly, to set me free.
Make a way where I can see none, as you parted the sea for a trapped people. Break the chains, silence the accusations, and lead me out into a large place.
I will trust you in the waiting, and I will thank you before I see it. You are mighty to save, and no one you set free is ever bound again. Deliver me, Lord. Amen.
The righteous cry, and the LORD heareth, and delivereth them out of all their troubles.
The righteous cry, and the LORD heareth, and delivereth them out of all their troubles — deliverance is his specialty; keep crying out.
