A Prayer for Caregivers
For those who look after others — strength, patience, and care for the carer.
Caregivers pour out daily and are rarely refilled. This prayer is for them — the ones nursing parents, spouses, children, patients — and for you if you are one.
The prayer
Father, you see the caring no one else sees — the lifting, the medicines, the patience found at 3 a.m. You count every act of it.
Refill what the pouring empties. Give rest that actually restores, help that actually arrives, and moments of joy inside the routine.
Guard me from resentment and from guilt — the twin thieves of the caregiver's heart. What I do for this beloved one, I do for you; let me feel that.
And in due season, let me reap: strength kept, love deepened, and your own well done. Be not weary, you tell me — so carry me, Lord, while I carry them. Amen.
And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.
Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these — the King takes caregiving personally. Yours is seen.
