The prayer
Father, thank you for my son — for the boy you gave and the man you are making. I could not have dreamed him better.
Make him strong and of good courage, but gentle with it. Give him integrity that holds when no one is watching, and the humility to say sorry and to start again.
Guard his heart and his friendships. Keep him from the traps set for young men, and give him a few faithful companions who point him upward.
Above all, let him know you — not just about you, but you. Be the Father who never fails him, especially where I do. Bless my son, and keep him. Amen.
