A Prayer for a Baby Dedication

The prayer
Father, this child is yours before ever they were ours. Today we give back what you first gave — as Hannah lent Samuel to the LORD, we lend this little life to you.
Thank you for every finger and eyelash, for the future folded up inside them that only you can see. Bless them all the days of their life.
Make us the parents they need — patient, prayerful, quick to point them to you by how we live. Fill this home with the faith we want them to inherit.
Draw them to yourself early, and keep them yours to the end. We dedicate them, and ourselves, to you today. Amen.
Therefore also I have lent him to the LORD; as long as he liveth he shall be lent to the LORD. And he worshipped the LORD there.
