A Prayer for a Broken Friendship
For a friendship that has fractured — grace, honesty, and the hope of mending.
The end or fracture of a close friendship is its own quiet grief, rarely acknowledged. This prayer is for the ache of it — and the hope, where it is possible, of repair.
The prayer
Father, you know this friendship and how it broke — the words, the silence, the part that was mine and the part that was theirs. I bring all of it to you.
Heal my heart where it is hurt, and search it where it is wrong. Give me the humility to own my share and the grace to forgive theirs.
If this friendship can be mended, make me willing and make a way; give me the words and the timing. If it cannot, let me release it into your hands without bitterness.
Thank you for the good years we had. Bless my friend, wherever we now stand. And be the Friend who never leaves. Amen.
A friend loveth at all times, and a brother is born for adversity.
A friend loveth at all times — pray for reconciliation where it is possible, and for a soft heart either way.
