A Prayer for Healing

A prayer for the sick and the hurting — for yourself, or for someone you love.

Whether you are praying for your own body or keeping watch beside someone else's, this prayer asks God for healing and rests in his care whatever comes.

The prayer

Lord, you are the God who heals. I come to you for the body that is weak and the heart that is weary, asking for your mercy and your touch.

Bring healing where healing is needed. Steady the hands of those who care for the sick. Give rest to the exhausted and comfort to the frightened.

Where I cannot see what you are doing, help me to trust that you are good and that you are here. Nothing is too hard for you.

Into your hands I place this illness and this fear. Have mercy, Lord, and be near. Amen.

He healeth the broken in heart, and bindeth up their wounds.
Psalm 147:3, KJV

Praying for healing is not a failure of faith when the answer is slow or unclear. God is near to the sick and the sorrowful, and he hears every prayer offered in trust.
