Bible Verses About Healing

Scripture for the sick, the hurting, and those who love them — verses on the God who heals.

Whether the wound is in the body or the heart, the Bible knows it. It names God as a healer — one who binds up what is broken and restores what is lost, in his time and his way.

These verses are for the one who is ill, and for everyone praying at the bedside.

He healeth the broken in heart, and bindeth up their wounds.
Psalm 147:3, KJV

Healing here is for the heart, not only the body.

For I will restore health unto thee, and I will heal thee of thy wounds, saith the LORD.
Jeremiah 30:17, KJV
But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.
Isaiah 53:5, KJV
Heal me, O LORD, and I shall be healed; save me, and I shall be saved: for thou art my praise.
Jeremiah 17:14, KJV

A prayer you can borrow when you don't have words of your own.

Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits: Who forgiveth all thine iniquities; who healeth all thy diseases;
Psalm 103:2–3, KJV
And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him.
James 5:15, KJV
for I am the LORD that healeth thee.
Exodus 15:26, KJV

Praying for healing is an act of faith, whatever the outcome. God is near to the sick and the sorrowful, and no prayer offered in trust is ever wasted.
