Bible Verses About Faith

What faith is, where it comes from, and how it grows — Scripture for believing when you cannot yet see.

Faith, in the Bible, is not certainty about everything. It is trust in Someone — a willingness to lean your weight on God before the outcome is clear.

These verses describe what faith is and how it takes root. Even a little of it, Jesus said, is enough.

Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.
Hebrews 11:1, KJV

The Bible's own definition of faith.

But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.
Hebrews 11:6, KJV
For we walk by faith, not by sight.
2 Corinthians 5:7, KJV
If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you.
Matthew 17:20, KJV

It is not the size of your faith that matters, but the size of your God.

So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.
Romans 10:17, KJV
For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God.
Ephesians 2:8, KJV
Lord, I believe; help thou mine unbelief.
Mark 9:24, KJV

An honest prayer for anyone whose faith feels thin.

If your faith feels small today, take heart: Scripture never asks for a heroic faith, only an honest one. Faith grows as it is used, and it is fed by God's own word.
