Bible Verses About Marriage
Scripture on love, commitment, and building a marriage that lasts — for weddings and for ordinary Tuesdays.
Marriage, in the Bible, is a covenant — a daily, unglamorous, holy commitment to love one person well. These verses are read at weddings, but they were written for the years that follow.
Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh.
Two are better than one; because they have a good reward for their labour.
Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it;
The measure of a husband's love is a love that gives itself away.
And above all these things put on charity, which is the bond of perfectness.
And above all things have fervent charity among yourselves: for charity shall cover the multitude of sins.
What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder.
Whoso findeth a wife findeth a good thing, and obtaineth favour of the LORD.
A lasting marriage is built less on grand romance than on daily, forgiving love — the kind God shows us first, and gives us the grace to pass on.
