Scripture on being set apart — the call, the cleansing, and the beauty of holiness.
Holiness means set apart — God's own character, and his people's calling. These verses trace it: the holy God, the call to be like him, and the grace that makes it possible.
But as he which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation; Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy.
Be ye holy; for I am holy — the call and its reason.
And one cried unto another, and said, Holy, holy, holy, is the LORD of hosts: the whole earth is full of his glory.

Holiness is not grim; Scripture calls it beautiful. It is becoming what you already are in Christ — set apart, cleansed, and increasingly like the One you worship.
